New Administrative Head Begins Work at Orphanage Oxford—In a May 14 letter to the lodges of North Carolina Grand Master William L. Mills, Jr. announced the employment of John E. Ferguson as administrative head of Oxford Orphanage. Already working on the Orphan age campus part-time (on his own time), Ferguson will assume full-time duties about the middle of June. Grand Master Mills, in his letter, noted the void which has existed here since the 1971 re tirement of E. T. Reg an and the additional void to be created by the impending retire- John E. Ferguson ment of M. E. Parham. He called the two “unsung heroes” at the Orphanage during the past quarter of a cen tury. The Grand Master wrote that Ferguson has for several years been principal of a junior high school here, and said of him: “He is more familiar with the facilities, needs and responsibilities of the Orphanage than perhaps any other man we have en- (Continued On Page Two) New Grand Steward WILLIAM F. (See article on Page Three). During the week following Grand Lodge North Carolina’s three newest lodges were Constituted and presented charters by Grand Master William L. Mills, Jr. On April 23 it was Truth Lodge 749 at Monroe, Oak Grove Lodge 750 at Durham on April 24, and Old Town Lodge 751 at Winston-Salem on April 25. These bring to 386 the number of active lodges on the Grand Lodge roster. Joining the Grand Master and assisting in (Continued on Page Three) Troy Robbins Resigns Greensboro—Reverend Troy G. Robbins, superintendent of Masonic and Eastern Star Home for fifteen years, submitted his resigna tion to the Home’s board of directors during 11. In July he and Mrs. Robbins will move to Florida where he will become involved in a new venture. Robbins will be suc ceeded on July 1 by Thomas A. Patterson, member of Louisburg Lodge 413, who has been superintendent of the New York State School for the Blind during the past three its meeting here May Rev. Troy G. Robbin# years.
